Mini Grant in Honor of Faith Morales
 
Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year I
 
n memory of PSA Counselor Faith Morales, APSAC offers several SPRING & FALL semester mini-grants.
 
The grant can be used to cover the cost of a school attendance incentive, a motivational campaign, or a 25th-day celebration.
 
The goal is to support the District's LCAP Attendance Goal and to support the efforts of child welfare and attendance counselors in promoting student attendance, academic success, and graduation.
 
Information and Eligibility:
 
  • Any APSAC Full /Professional Membership holder in good standing may apply for a mini-grant.
  • Five (5) grants up to $100 each will be awarded.
  • The proposed projects must be implemented before the end of the fall semester (unless the Board authorizes an extension).
  • Receipts. photo release forms and clear pictures need to be submitted for reimbursement as stated on the application form.
  • Only one application per APSAC member will be accepted.

PSA Counselor Ms. Eva Munoz created a school-wide attendance activity to celebrate the 50th day of attendance. She organized a carnival and had drawings.  All students who attended that day were eligible to participate.
PSA Counselor Ms. Silvia Coronado had $10 gift cards to Starbucks drawings to increase attendance as follows: before or after a holiday/unassigned day (9/17, 11/12, 11/19, 11/29, and 12/ 17).  Students that were present during the designated dates entered into a drawing to win a $10 gift card.  Two cards were raffled each time.

Jennifer targeted two dates in March after data showed the absenteeism rates spiked up on those dates before. Students who attended were eligible to participate in a drawing. Each winner took home a $15 Dominos Pizza Certificate! Attendance improved and everybody was happy!
March Madness Attendance Awareness
 
Raquel promoted daily attendance when healthy. Students with 100% of Attendance were recognized with a certificate for the month of March and received a button to celebrate such achievement!
LORA PALACIOS
 
Bellingham Elementary - Lora had the perfect idea to motivate students as the end of the school year approached.  She had an amazing attendance campaign and then she had a drawing among the students with best attendance.  Students loved it and teachers were very impressed with Lora's work.  This was a home run!
Meet the 2021-2022 APSAC Grant Recipients
 
PSA Counselor Ms. Maria Barragan organized a school-wide motivational popcorn party to promote school spirit & encourage outstanding attendance. 
STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH CELEBRATION  AT Torres HS SJLAM
 
PSA Counselor Ms. Cassandra Estrada celebrated students' hard work this school year, by helping them to take time to focus on their mental health.  Overall, she supported self-care as a whole. She organized a week full of incentives, raffles, self-care challenges, and self-care kits to support our students' mental health.
PSA Counselor Ms. Ryan, promoted attendance with the slogan: In School Every Day, When Healthy!   Then she had a drawing on the 25th Day of Attendance.

To Improve our BASIC attendance band we celebrate our students' hard work and efforts to attend every day when healthy. We had a popsicle drawing, students loved it.  Our motto:  When Healthy, Be In School!
Pablo Benitez celebrated the 125th day of attendance by having a "Pie to My Face" contest! students with best attendance were allowed to throw a pie at a staff member's face. Students were respectful and everybody had fun!
